This is a snap of the MPE from one of the over bridges. MPE runs from the outskirts of Pune to Panvel which is about 50 kms from Mumbai. It is a six lanes road all throughout, inc! luding the ghat section.
Another view. The road has a fence running along the lenght on both sides to prevent stray animals venturing on the expressway.
This is an approach to one of the tunnels on the expressway. One of the tunnels on this route is almost 1.2 Kms long.
Again, an approach to a tunel. Check the sign boards on the road. The MPE has a dedicated mobile emergency line displayed all over the road. It also has emergency phone booths along the road to call for assistance.
This is a section between Lonavala and Khandala. Since the road passes thru these towns, they have built an elevated section that pases over these towns. There are exits for both towns.
One of the tunnels. All tunnels are well illuminated and the longer tunnels have large exhaust fans.
This is a breathtaking view of the MPE against the backdrop of the Khandala ghat. You can see a large waterfall in the bakground as the MPE snakes its way towards Pune.

The flag that was first hoisted on August 7, 1906,
at the Parsee Bagan Square in Calcutta.

Called the ‘Saptarishi Flag’, this was hoisted in Stuttgart
at the International Socialist Congress held on August 22, 1907.

Associated with the names of Dr. Annie Besant and
Lokmanya Tilak, this flag was hoisted at
the Congress session in Calcutta during the
‘Home Rule Movement’.
In the year 1921, a young man from Andhra presented
this flag to Gandhiji for approval. It was only after
Gandhiji’s suggestion that the white strip and
the charkha were added.
This flag was suggested during the All India Congress
Committee session in 1931. However, the Committee’s
suggestion was not approved.

On August 6, 1931, the Indian National Congress
formally adopted this flag, which was first hoisted
on August 31.

Our National Flag, which was born on July 22, 1947,
with Nehruji’s words, “Now I present to you not only the Resolution,
but the Flag itselfâ€. This flag was first hoisted at the Council House

Chandigarh, Mar 7 (PTI) Kashmir Singh, who was freed from Pakistani jail after 35 years, today admitted that he was an Indian spy and did his best to serve the country, but deplored that successive governments at the Centre did nothing for his family. “After my arrest in 1974, the successive governments did nothing for my family.
I did the duty assigned to me as a spy.
But the government after my arrest did not bother to spend a single penny for my family,” a calm and composed looking Singh, who was accompanied by his wife Paramjeet Kaur, told reporters here.
Sixtyseven-year-old Singh thanked God for being kind to him and said the various governments at the Centre did nothing for any of the prisoners languishing in various jails in Pakistan. “The Central government did not bother to take care of my family following my arrest.
The government does only the paper work,” he said. Asked whether he was sent to Pakistan by the Military Intelligence and the route he took to go there, Singh said “even Pakistan authorities failed to get this information from me”.
“I was paid Rs 400 as salary.
As per duty, I went to serve the country,” he said.
Asked what he would like to say for some other people who are working in similar kind of professions, Singh said “I was a spy and did my duty.
About others I will not comment.
I am not President of the country to give reply to such queries”. PTI.
